Phonics Screening Check

Children routinely take part in a 'Phonics Check' at the end of Year 1. The Phonics Check assess how well the children have learnt all their 'sounds' to help them decode, blend and segment words when reading. 

We are delighted to announce that the pass rate for the Federated Schools of St Joseph's last year was 95%. 

In 2018 92% of children passed the Year One statutory Phonic Assessment- the Waltham Forest pass rate was 86% and the National pass rate was 83%.

In 2017 97% of children passed the Year One statutory phonic assessment- we were ranked in the top 8% of school Nationally for Phonics.
