School Start and Finish Times
The Federated Schools of St Joseph's currently operate staggered start and finish times between infants and juniors to ensure a calm, smooth and safe start to the school day.
Following consultation with staff, parents, carers and governors, we have formally increased the number of hours children attend school in Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) to 32.5 hours per week.
Start Time and Finish Time
Nursery am session 8:45 am to 11:45
Nursery full time 8:45 am to 3:00 pm
Reception 8:45 am to 3:00 pm
Year 1 and Year 2 8:45 am to 3:00 pm
Year 3 and Year 4 8:45 am to 3:15 pm
Year 5 and Year 6 8:45 am to 3:15 pm
The Infant classes finish at 3:00 pm as many morning phonics intervention groups take place between 8:15 am to 8:30 am where children are less tired and are ready for learning at the start of the day. This adds a further 15 minutes to their school day which increase their day to 32.5 hours.
If your child has been allocated a morning phonics, maths or reading intervention group which starts at 8:15, please ensure they arrive on time as it can be disruptive to the group when children arrive at varying times.
Entrance and Exit
The school gates open at 8:40 am and children walk directly through the school gates to their classrooms for morning registration at 8:45 am. In the first few weeks of starting school, parents and carers can walk their children to their classrooms. The children soon build in confidence, learn where to park bikes and scooters, and often feel able walk to their classes independently by the second or third week.
All our children are safely supervised by staff members on duty in the playground until they reach their classroom door ready for the day ahead!
