Our 'Early Years Provision' ( Nursery and Reception) provides the perfect environment for our youngest children to develop the keys skills of social, language and emotional communication. These are the prerequisites to learning, and are the first building blocks to our children becoming independent and confident learners.
In Early Years and Foundation Stage (EYFS), our expert team of staff are strongly guided by the principles of using a child led approach with continuous provision, balanced with adult led structured teaching time to engage children to learn form the world around them.
We use the systematic phonics reading programme 'Read, Write, Inc' to teach children their initial sounds before blending and segmenting these to read and write more challenging words and sentences. Our phonics programme starts in Nursery. This means that many of our children who previously attended our Nursery, already enter Reception know how to read and 'sound out' key words.
''Teachers check what pupils have learned and make sure that pupils have opportunities to revisit their learning. In early years, teachers ensure that children are able to see, practise and embed new knowledge''.
