St Faustyna

Saint Faustyna Kowalska

Feast Day - 5th February

Patron Saint of Mercy

Saint Maria Faustyna Kowalska was born in Poland on August 25, 1905. She was the third of 10 children to a poor and religious family. Faustyna first felt a calling to the religious life when she was just seven-years-old and attended the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. After finishing her schooling, Faustyna, who came form a poor background, became a housekeeper to help her parents and support herself.  She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy at the age of 20 and appeared as a very ordinary nun working in the kitchens and gardens.

Catholic Social Teaching

St Faustyna aspires us to live out the Catholic Social Teaching of  'The Common Good' where we are called to  work for the good of each other and all. She was noted for especially for her care for the poor and sick.
