Patron saint of the environment and animals
St Francis is one of the patron saints of Italy. He founded an order, or group, of monks called the Franciscans. The Franciscan order is one of the largest orders in the Roman Catholic Church.
Saint Francis was known for his love of nature, particularly his love of animals. St. Francis thought that nature was the mirror of God. He called all creatures his “brothers” and “sisters.”

St Francis was known for his love of nature and animals and teaches us about stewardship and the importance taking care of God's creation. We are all called to care of the world we live in. We are aware of the impact of climate change and need to work together to live more sustainably for future generations.
