Reception Picnic
Wed 24 Jul 2019As a family school we are always looking at ways to welcome our parents so as soon as the summer began Reception packed their bags and headed off to Jubilee Park for a picnic. Parents enjoyed seeing the children laughing and playing with their friends. Friendship is a great gift and it was a privilege to see it in action.

Little Explorers
Wed 24 Jul 2019This year we wanted to reach out more to our younger community and launched our Little Explorers for pre-school children. This parent and child drop in session gives parents the opportunity to see what our school is life for children from Nursery upwards. They have the opportunity to play and interact both indoors and outdoors and make new friends. Parents are able to join in and play or just enjoy a chat with staff and/ other parents. There is no need to book so if you know someone who might enjoy this please let them know.

Bread Making
Wed 24 Jul 2019As always, Nursery is very hands on and making bread as part of the Little Red Hen was no exception. From kneading, shaping, baking and eating the bread the children did everything. Parent feedback was very positive and several parents even asked for the recipe.

Spring Clean
Thu 27 Jun 2019‘ Don’t Litter Leyton!’
At St. Joseph’s we care about our environment. We jumped at the chance to help clean the park with our local partners. We are nurturing tomorrow’s citizens and need a world fit for purpose. The children chatted and laughed as they used their litter pickers and made a difference. This experience also made us think about what else we can do and as a result we have just taken over an allotment park so look out for further exciting news!

Irish Dancing
Thu 27 Jun 2019This year we focused on Street Dance and Irish Dancing. The children all enjoyed the Irish Dancing experience although the speed of the music was a surprise to some. We focused on posture co-ordination and the basic moves and the children had fun trying to remember which way to go! We focused on this as part of our St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Even the teachers joined in.

Nursery Trip to London Zoo
Thu 20 Jun 2019Our Nursery children went on a trip to the London Zoo. We had a wonderful time and came back buzzing with excitement and full of amazing memories.
We spent the day admiring the wild animals, walking through a rainforest, greeting the lemurs, waddling with the penguins and swinging with the monkeys.
It was an unforgettable experience for the children as well as the adults.

Virtual Reality
Fri 26 Apr 2019We travelled to Australia in our VR Workshop; through looking at Aboriginal Australia we emerged ourselves in a different culture and way of life. Year 1 Child ‘That was amazing; I was really there. Can I go again?’

Stations of the Cross 2019
Wed 24 Apr 2019Easter is a time to reflect, consider how we can start afresh and help others. Year Two reminded us of Jesus’ journey. Their understanding was humbling and helped us all to reflect on how we can renew our faith.
