  • Stations of the Cross 2019

    Wed 24 Apr 2019

Easter is a time to reflect, consider how we can start afresh and help others. Year Two reminded us of Jesus’ journey. Their understanding was humbling and helped us all to reflect on how we can renew our faith.

  • Stephen Lawrence Day

    Mon 22 Apr 2019

St. Joseph’s Catholic Infant School commemorated the death of Stephen  Lawrence by having a special assembly where racism was explored    alongside stereotypes and the children’s perceptions about words such as Muslin, Gypsy, Christian, Black and White were explored.

The children were able to tell me the following:-

‘The colour of your skin does not matter it is like the colour of your clothes’- Year 2 Child

‘I choose my friends because I like the person and they like me’- Year 1 Child

‘It is the person who matters not their religion or colour or what they wear’- Year 2 Child

‘If you can’t think of something nice to say then don’t bother saying it’- Year 2 Child

We also explored the pressure of people trying to persuade us to make wrong decisions and some of the older children talked about Gangs. The whole issue of racism, belonging, stereotyping was discussed in an age appropriate way and followed up by a series of Assemblies exploring British Values.

  • Bingo Night

    Tue 02 Apr 2019

This really was BINGO with a difference. We enjoyed singing, dancing and of course BINGO. Adults were just as competitive as the children but in the end the children showed their skills and won the prizes. Thank-you to everyone who attended. See you next time for our annual BINGO Party.

  • Street Dance Assembly

    Mon 01 Apr 2019

Our school is full of talented children and our recent Street Dance Assembly showed this in full. The older children guided and supported the younger members of the group, setting an example and showing off their leadership skills. The sequence was complex but executed wonderfully and every child was delighted by the end result because of their understanding of being part of a team. Street Dance is a school club that runs weekly – it is open to all children. See the school office for further details.

  • Mother's Day Assembly

    Thu 28 Mar 2019
‘ A mother is your first friend, your best friend and your forever friend’.  Thank you to every who steps in to be a mother from every child.  Our Assembly was full of songs, drama and poetry.  Class 4 brought everyone to tears (in a good way) with their drama and song.
  • Mother's Day Reception Tea Party

    Thu 28 Mar 2019

‘ God could not be everywhere so he made mothers’

How true this quote is and so to show our Mothers and Grandmothers how much we love them the Reception children decided to have a Mother’s Day Tea and share some work with them.  The children ( and mothers) enjoyed this special time together.  In today’s busy world it is not often that we stop to  appreciate those we hold dear.  We hope you enjoy our pictures. Quote from a child ‘ When I grow up I want to be like my mum!’.

  • Forensic Science Workshop March 2019

    Fri 15 Mar 2019
Who stole the Dog?  The children enjoyed using their detection skills to examine evidence to see who had stolen the dog.  They looked at finger prints and other clues left at the "crime scene" to deduce who the police needed to arrest.
  • World Book Week 2019

    Fri 15 Mar 2019
The children enjoyed a busy activity filled week.  It begun by guessing Who's Who's with photographs of teachers hidden behind books.  Children enjoyed reading lots of different texts and earning "Golden Tickets" for additional privileges if they were caught reading in their own time.  Children took part in a book/drama workshop focusing on The Stick Man, We're going on a Bear Hunt and George's Marvellous Medicine.  The popular Roald Dahl book George's Marvellous Medicine was the focus of a fantastic science workshop where the children learnt about gravity and chemical reactions.
  • Royal Mews

    Fri 15 Feb 2019
Year 2 enjoyed an amazing trip to the Royal Mews as part of their Kings and Queens topic.  They enjoyed dressing up, seeing the coaches and lots more.
  • Reception Egg-splores

    Fri 15 Feb 2019
The children enjoyed watching chicks hatch over the last few weeks.  One chick was smaller than the others and really struggled.  However Mrs Boon's son stepped in to provide physiotherapy and on the advice of a trainee vet administered plasters and saved the chicks life.  A Governor has taken the chicks to join last year's ones and promised to keep us updated with photographs.
